  • What is good about it?

    • I go to Lot’s of places with my children and most of the time they don’t live up to what I thought they would be.  This museum does!!  What I like:

    • It has a path to take from Lincoln’s early youth to the end.
    • I love the political cartoons and voices that show how tough life was for Lincoln early on.
    • I love the political map and recounting of 1860 election.
    • I love the letters and things from the civil war.
    • My kids love the holograph play
    • I also love walking to the house he lived in from here (perfect for children to actually walk somewhere)

    NOTE:  I have been twice and loved it both times and would go again in a heartbeat.

  • What is it missing?
    • Nothing for me
  • Other sites: I have been to Lincoln’s early home in Indiana Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial and not really worth the trip.

    Question:  What other museum’s are in this class?  Where is the list because I want to go to any this good.

     

    Here is a nice itinerary I was sent which might be of interest to folks.

    Thursday June 18: Depart Indianapolis for Lincoln City, Indiana. Visit Buffalo Run Farm, where legend says Lincoln spent the night. Continue to the Colonel Jones home, the restored 1834 Federal-designed home of the merchant employer of Abraham Lincoln. Visit the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, site of the Lincoln family farm. Tonight, enjoy dinner and the performance of Lincoln, a play about his life, at the Lincoln Amphitheatre. Overnight near Lincoln, City.Friday June 19: This morning, head to Illinois. Visit the Macon County Homestead Prairie Farm for lunch and an insightful lecture on Lincoln’s life in Decatur. Continue to Springfield and visit the Lincoln Tomb and tour of the Old State Capitol. Following dinner enjoy a performance of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at Theater in the Park in New Salem. Overnight at the State House Inn.

    Saturday June 16: Today, tour the Executive Mansion (Governor’s home) and the wonderful Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. Visit the Lincoln-Herndon Law Office and the Lincoln Home. Return to Indianapolis.

    • What is it good for?

    This appears to be well done site.  I like that I can put in information about me and it does something with it.  My favorite place is Ireland and it shows me a well done view with that included.  If I had a ton of friends that know a lot about travel then I would love this site.

    • What is it missing

    Well I’m afraid that what is missing is easy.  This looks like work.  I have to invite a bunch of friends..can I ask once for linkedIn, Facebook and this?  Not going to happen ..unless I lose my job so I can plan trips I don’t have any $ for.

    When I want to just troll content for cool things to do I go to tripadvisor.  There are millions of reviews on sites all around the world and I don’t have to do any work to invite folks…web 2.0 is good but can’t we just get lazy.

    • What is it good for?

    1st this site is a great piece of IT engineering.  It mashes up prices on flights and soon hotels and gives you predictions on future prices based on historical prices.  If you are thinking of a trip to location in the future and want some idea of how much it might cost this site is the best thing available. You can view in the last 90 days what the best price is.  You may not get this but your in the ballpark at least

    • What is it missing?

    Well you have to pick two locations that they have lot’s of data on to get the cool part of the site.  e.g.  Indianapolis doesn’t have predictions but Chicago does.  They need to add more sites like top 50 US sites which they don’t have.

    • Other sites:

    If you just want the best price for a place and dates you have already decided on, there are many other sites that are quicker at getting you  the answer.  This site will help you decide if you are going months in advance.
